FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE…
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 9:30pm Sunday Night , January 22, 2017:
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:
A severe thunderstorm impacted Gordon County at about 7:30pm tonight, with heavy rains and high winds. There have been many reports of trees and power lines down blocking roadways , as well as flooded roadways, and at least one report of structure damage. I have deployed extra deputies in response to the high volume of requests for service. Our personnel are working diligently in dangerous conditions removing debris and responding to emergency calls. Power outages have been reported in several locations. Millers Ferry Road, Reeves Station Road, and Union Grove Road have been reported flooded. Utility crews are working to clear lines and restore power as rapidly as possible. We will update this information as soon as more details are available. Meanwhile, all unnecessary travel should be avoided, and motorists should exercise extreme caution, paying particular attention to the possibility of debris in the roadway, and be aware of potentially hazardous high winds.
