Beware of Caller Posing as Sheriff’s Official
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Announces:
The Sheriff’s Office has received a number of reports within the past 24 hours of a male telephone caller posing as “Officer Roland” purporting to be a deputy sheriff and soliciting money for non-existent “warrants”. The bogus caller claims to be calling from the “Sheriff’s Department” and office sounds are audible in the background. The number from which these calls originate appears to be 706-383-1788. Detectives are working to find the actual origination-location of these calls, which are often “ghosted” from other lines and/or internet servers out of state or even out of the country.
DO NOT give this caller ANY personal information. There is no “Officer Roland”.
The Sheriff’s Office never solicits money for fines or any other business via telephone.
