Public Service Announcement: Beware of Telephone Scammers
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Announces:
The Sheriff’s Office has received a number of complaints today regarding telephone scammers posing as local officials threatening victims with legal actions, warrants, etc. if a “fee” isn’t paid. The scammers will use actual telephone numbers and names of officials in their efforts to defraud innocent people. The scammers are usually located in other states or in foreign countries.
The Sheriff’s Office NEVER solicits funds, fines, or anything of value by telephone.
NEVER give out any personal or financial information to unknown/unverified callers.
If something sounds like a scam, it probably is a scam. IT’S BEST TO JUST HANG UP.
