Deputies Arrest Tennessee Couple on Drug, Weapons Charges

Deputy sheriffs were on routine patrol on Interstate 75 near State Route 225 at about 8 p.m. Monday night (January 20) when they observed a suspicious vehicle travelling in the north bound lane. The deputies stopped this car and questioned the driver. A subsequent search of the car and occupants revealed methamphetamine packaged for resale, a large quantity of oxycodone tablets, marijuana, and a loaded handgun. David Eugene Cross, age 35, and Angel Kaye Hood, age 39, both of Crossville, Tennessee were arrested without incident and their automobile seized for forfeiture. Cross was charged with Possession of Methemphatamine and Marijuana, Possession of Schedule II Oxycodone, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Drug Related Crime, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Hood was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Marijuana, Possession of Schedule II Oxycodone, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Drug Related Crime. Both are being held in the county jail pending bond proceedings.
