Deputies Investigated Reported Robbery, Assault
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:
Early Friday morning, August 16th, deputy sheriffs were dispatched to a private residence on Shaw Road in unincorporated Gordon County in response to a 911 call from a woman who reported that she had been robbed by an unidentified white/male driving an older model Oldsmobile automobile. She told investigating deputies that the perpetrator rifled through her purse and stole cash before fleeing from the scene. Detectives are continuing the investigation into this matter.
In a separate, unrelated incident:
At approximately 10:15 a.m., Friday morning, deputy sheriffs were dispatched to a private residence on Buck Boulevard in the Dews Pond community is response to a report of an unidentified male intruder assaulting a woman. The victim reported that a male entered her residence masquerading as a door-to-door salesman before attacking her. After the assault, the victim said the perpetrator fled from the home on foot. Deputy sheriffs and state troopers scoured the area for several hours. The Sheriff’s Office Air Unit and K9 units were also deployed. The perpetrator was described as being a white/male with brown hair, dressed in a navy blue shirt. UPDATE, Tuesday, August 20, 2013: Regarding the reported incident on Buck Boulevard on Friday, August 16, 2013, investigating detectives noted certain inconsistencies between physical evidence and statements that were given. The Sheriff’s Office is not seeking a particular suspect at this time.
