Detectives Arrest 2 in Connection With Store Burglary in Plainville

Early Tuesday morning, deputy sheriffs were dispatched to a convenience store in Plainville in response to an alarm. Deputies found that the business had been forcibly entered by breaking open the front door. The burglars took cigarettes, and their images were captured on the store’s video surveillance system. Although the burglars wore masks, one of the men, subsequently identified as Austin Blake Evans, age 17, of 101 Emily Lane, Adairsville (Gordon County), Georgia, wasn’t wearing his bandana mask in front of the camera, thus allowing detectives to swiftly identify and arrest him. The arresting officers also recovered stolen cigarettes and a red bandana upon apprehending Evans at his home. Evans’ alleged partner, Dayton “Day Day” Stephens, age 18, of 152 Earl Street, Plainville, was arrested Wednesday evening at his home without incident. Both remain in the county jail pending bond. Detectives described the masks used in the burglary as “low tech”.
