Domestic Dispute Results in Aggravated Assault Arrest
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:
At approximately 5am, Friday morning, November 1, a deputy sheriff was patrolling Dews Pond Road near Calhoun when he observed a suspicious person running across the roadway. The deputy stopped to investigate and determined that a man had been assaulted and beaten with a metal rod about the head in an apparent domestic dispute nearby. Mark Locklear, age 23, 1601 Dews Pond Road was arrested at the scene without incident. The victim, a man approximately 20 years old, was treated for head injuries at Gordon Hospital. An automobile was also damaged during the incident.
Detectives charged Locklear with Aggravated Assault and Criminal Damage to Property.
Although this event occurred in the early morning hours after October 31, investigating officers do not believe it had any connection to Halloween.
