Domestic Disturbance With Shots Fired results in Arrest of Ranger Man
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:
On Tuesday morning, January 9, 2024, deputy sheriffs were dispatched to a private residence on Apple Road near the Oakman community in response to a 911 report of a domestic disturbance involving shots being fired within the home. When deputies arrived, they found a 61 year old man barricaded inside a room armed with a handgun. A family member reported that a number of shots had been fired before the arrival of officers. The deputies were able to (verbally) convince the man to come out and surrender himself without further violence. They took Wayland Owens, age 61, of 868 Apple Road into custody on charges of Aggravated Assault and Reckless Conduct. Owens remains in jail pending bond.
