Early Morning Alarm Call Leads to Pursuit, Crash, Arrest
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:
At approximately 3:45 a.m. this morning (December 8), deputy sheriffs were dispatched to Martin’s Corner convenience store at Dews Pond in response to an alarm call. As a deputy arrived, he observed a suspicious person entering a suspicious automobile. When the deputy attempted to stop the car, it sped away. The deputy pursued this car at high rates of speed to the intersection of Plainview Road and Fairmount Highway (State Route 53). There, the suspect vehicle left the roadway and crashed. The deputies in pursuit apprehended three individuals at the scene. A fourth suspect fled on foot and escaped. Two of the occupants were hospitalized. Sheriff’s crime scene technicians are on the scene at the convenience store now gathering and processing physical evidence. Other deputies are searching for additional evidence from the crash scene, and continuing the search the wider area for the forth suspect. None of the individuals involved are from this community.
Detectives are continuing their investigation and more information will be made public as it becomes available.
