Gordon County Couple Arrested For Drug Trafficking

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

At about 2 a.m. this morning (August 16), deputy sheriffs stopped a suspicious automobile on Interstate 75 (north bound) near Calhoun. A subsequent search of the car revealed a large quantity of methamphetamine, ‘ecstasy’ pills, packaging materials, and other drug related paraphenalia. The driver, Cecil E. Parker, age 69, of 325 Dover Road, Resaca, and the passenger, Melinda Mae Pennington, age 36, of 1505 Pine Chapel Road, were both arrested at the scene without incident. Both have been charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine and other drug related offences, and are being held in the county jail pending bond. The methamphetamine had a “street’ value of over $25,000.00.
