Interstate Fugitive Arrested After High Speed Chase With Deputies
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:
Shortly before midnight, Tuesday, August 13, 2013, a deputy sheriff on routine patrol on Interstate 75 near Resaca attempted to stop a suspicious automobile. A high speed pursuit ensued, with additional deputy sheriffs chasing the vehicle to the vicinity of Dug Gap Road in Whitfield County. There, a senior deputy sheriff forced the vehicle off the roadway. The driver of this vehicle then fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by the deputies. The driver, subsequently identified as one Chad Turner, age 37, of Cleveland, Tennessee was wanted by authorities in South Carolina for Grand Larceny, in Florida for Violating Probation, and in Tennessee for Burglary. A deputy sheriff was slightly injured during the foot pursuit. No Sheriff’s Office vehicles were damaged. Turner faces a variety of traffic related charges relating to the pursuit here, as well as the charges from the neighboring states. He remains in the custody of the Sheriff’s Office.
