Jailors Recognized for Life Saving Actions

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

On Friday, February 4th, Sheriff Mitch Ralston recognized two Sheriff’s Office Jailors, J.L. Fleming and C.L. Cox for life saving. The officers each received the Sheriff’s Meritorious Service Award “for official actions on 21st January, 2022 wherein they saved the life of an inmate who’d hung himself inside a cellblock. After seeing the inmate hanging himself while making rounds within the jail,  “Jailors Fleming and Cox’s swift response and coolness under pressure” in rescuing the inmate and initiating first aid procedures directly contributed to the saving of his life. Due to their actions, the inmate was not seriously injured. Their citations read that their “actions are commendable and in keeping with the highest traditions of the Office of Sheriff”.
