Sheriff Warns of Telephone Calls From Area Code 876 (Jamaica)
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Announces:
“Gordon County citizens are advised to be aware of suspicious telephone contacts from telephone numbers from Area Code 876 (in Jamaica). My Office has received a number of reports of these suspicious calls from individuals who speak heavily accented english and purport to have a package to deliver to a residence. The caller will pose as a delivery service representative during the conversation. If you receive such a call, I strongly recommend that you hang up the telephone. Do NOT give any personal identification information, i.e. names, addresses, birth dates, social security numbers, or bank account or credit card information to ANY unknown caller. If you are the subject of any threats or intimidation, please call 911 and report the activity to law enforcement.”
