Possible Severe Weather Conditions

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Announces:

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) , Northwest Georgia, including all of Gordon County, is at risk of being impacted by a significantly severe weather event this afternoon. The storm front is predicted to bring heavy rain, lightning, and high winds along with the risk of hail and/or tornadoes. Extra deputy sheriffs have already been deployed in anticipation of severe conditions. These storm fronts can pose serious risks of downed trees and power lines in roadways, flying debris, other property damage, and possibly even life threatening conditions. Motorists should avoid travelling during severe weather, as automobiles are particularly vulnerable to high winds and other dangers, especially during periods of reduced visibility. All citizens should be mindful of severe weather conditions, as well as being aware of the possibility of trees, lines, and/or debris in roadways in the aftermath of storms. Citizens can monitor the evolving weather situation via the NWS and local and North Georgia media outlets.
