Roads Are Hazardous
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:
Gordon County is under a NWS (National Weather Service) winter storm warning, and approximately 1-2 inches of snow and ice has already fallen. As of this time, snow is still falling and the roads are hazardous. Deputy sheriffs have responded to a number of automobile crashes since 5 a.m., one of which involved a fatality on State Route 53 near Mount Olive Church Road. Our deputies are patrolling in four wheel drive vehicles. I urge everyone to avoid travelling unless absolutely necessary, and stay tuned to media outlets or the NWS for weather updates, as this winter storm is only expected to worsen over the next 24 to 48 hours.
