Dangerous Winter Weather Continues

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

We continue to be under a National Weather Service Winter Storm Warning effective until 1 p.m. this afternoon. Overnight snowfall has made travelling very hazardous again today. Most roadways are icy, and bridges and overpasses are particularly dangerous. Deputies are still patrolling in marked, four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicles. Throughout the night, deputies responded to 6 vehicles crashes, and moved between 30 and 40 trees from state highways and county roads. The County Public Works Department is also working diligently to clear trees from roadways. There have been some instances of power outages, mostly in the western portion of the county, and power crews are working to restore electricity in the affected areas. Weather forecasts predict some clearing and higher temperatures this afternoon. The public is urged to avoid travel until the streets and highways are safe.
