Resaca Man Arrested For Growing Marijuana and Weapons Offenses

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

Yesterday afternoon (August 3), a law enforcement helicopter crew located a marijuana “garden” growing at a private residence on Hyde Road in the Resaca community. The resident, David Long, was located there and subsequently arrested without incident. Investigating Sheriff’s detectives removed dozens of large marijuana plants from the grounds, as well as more marijuana packaged for resale, packaging materials, an assault rifle with several magazines, a police-style pistol, other firearms, and a large quantity of ammunition. Long, age 71 of 890 Hyde Road, Resaca, has been charged with Manufacturing/Possession/Intent to Distribute Marijuana and other drug related offenses, as well as Felon in Possession of Firearms and other weapons related offenses. The marijuana plants have a “street” value of over $170,000.00. Long remains in jail pending bond.
