School Resource Deputy Recognized For Distinguished Service
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:
Today (December 17) Deputy Sheriff Adriana Medina was honored by Sheriff Mitch Ralston with a ‘Distinguished Service Award‘ in recognition of her outstanding service as a School Resource Officer (SRO). Deputy Medina joined GCSO in 2014, and has since served in the Jail, Court Services, and Patrol Divisions before her current assignment in the Schools System. Her duties include safety and security, traffic control, and general law enforcement responsibilities. Her citation from Sheriff Ralston read in part, “in recognition of keeping safe the county schools, serving as an ambassador of goodwill representing the Sheriff’s Office, mentoring students, and maintaining a high standard of excellence and professionalism’. Gordon County Schools Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Fraker, who joined Sheriff Ralston in presenting the award, said, “Deputy Medina, in addition to being a member of her law enforcement family, is a member of our faculty family, too. She is a great addition to our resources.” Sheriff Ralston said, “Adriana is a great employee, she is a favorite with the students, and comes to work every day with a great attitude and a drive to make our community a better place”. Deputy Medina grew up in neighboring Whitfield County. Her favorite part of her job is interacting with, and especially mentoring, the students. When she is off duty she enjoys spending time with her family.
