Sheriff, Fire/Rescue, and State Patrol Recognize Citizens for Lifesaving
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:
Friday morning, February 2nd, Sheriff Mitch Ralston was joined by officials from Gordon County Fire/Rescue and the local State Patrol Post (No.43) in recognizing a group of private citizens for lifesaving in the aftermath of an serious automobile crash on State Route 53 (Fairmount Highway) in Sonoraville on the morning of January 25th. These citizens removed both drivers from the wreckage of the two vehicles which were involved, before both vehicles burned. Cayman Reynolds, Sammie Roper, Lamar Turner, and Howard Pack all received a ‘Citizen Service Award’ from the Sheriff and a gift card from the Sheriff’s Auxiliary. Mr. Willard Parker and Ms. Kayla Vickery also rendered aid along with the other recipients on January 25th, but could not attend the presentation. The certificates presented by Sheriff Ralston read in part that the recipients “were instrumental in saving lives” and for ” displaying the highest qualities of courage and good citizenship“. Sheriff Ralston also said that we are fortunate to live in a community where members of our community are ready and willing to help one another in times of need or emergency.
