Sheriff Hosts Noted Civil War Historian

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

Sheriff Mitch Ralston hosted noted Civil War historian, author, and Kennesaw State University Adjunct Professor Gerald Flinchum at this monthly Sheriff’s Auxiliary Luncheon today. Professor Flinchum is the author of several works on the Civil War in Georgia, including “The Civil War in Pickens County” and “Yellow Doc Rayburn”. Professor Flinchum was researching his next work and joined Sheriff Ralston to discuss local civil war history including the Battle of Resaca, local Confederate camps and fortifications, Confederate ‘home guard’ troops, guerilla warfare, and particularly local civil war and Native American artifacts and archealogy. Professor Flinchum plans to return to conduct further research in our area in the near future.
