Sheriff Investigating Report of Sexual Assault of Female Juvenile in Fairmount
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports;
On Friday, April 10th, the Sheriff’s Office was requested by the Fairmount Police to investigate a report of a sexual assault against a 16 year old female juvenile by a 17 year old male in Fairmount. Deputy sheriffs and detectives were dispatched to Fairmount and an investigation was initiated. Detectives located and questioned a number of witnesses, and executed 2 search warrants in which physical evidence was collected. Forensic evidence acquired in this case has been sent to the State Crime Laboratory for analysis, and investigating detectives are continuing to locate and interview additional witnesses as of today. This is an active, ongoing investigation in which Sheriff’s Office personnel are coordinating their efforts with prosecuting attorneys from the District Attorney’s Office.
There will be no further comments regarding this investigation before the case is submitted to the District Attorney’s Office.
