Sheriff Ralston Recognizes Floyd County Deputy For Actions in Recent Homicide Case

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Announces:

Today, Friday, August 29th, Sheriff Mitch Ralston recognized Floyd County Deputy Sheriff Marti Watkins, who along with his partner Deputy Robert Whitfield, apprehended Nathan Neighbors near Rome, Georgia on August 5th, 2014. Neighbors was at that time being sought for the murder of John Wood Jr. in Gordon County. Sheriff Ralston awarded Deputies Watkins and Whitfield commendation medals. The citation for the medals read in part that Deputies Watkins and Whitfield “relentlessly pursued leads for 24 hours before effecting the arrest without without resistance or incident” in apprehending the fugitive Neighbors.
