Sheriff’s Office Honors Slain Texas Trooper Today

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

Friday evening, March 26, Texas Trooper Chad Walker was shot in a roadside ambush near Mexia, Texas. Trooper Walker succumbed to his injuries 5 days later. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has requested that all law enforcement officers in Texas activate their flashing emergency lights at 1 p.m. (Central Time) today for one minute in honor of Trooper Walker. At 2 p.m. today (in conjunction with 1 p.m. Central Time), Gordon County deputies will activate their flashing emergency lights for one minute in Trooper Walker’s memory, as a reminder of the supreme sacrifices made by peace officers for the public they serve.

The suspect was later found dead, believed to have committed suicide. Trooper Walker was a 6 year veteran of the Texas Department of Public Safety, and leaves behind a widow and four children.
