Sheriff’s Office Wishes Centenarian, Beloved Retired Teacher, Happy 102nd Birthday

Saturday morning, September 10, 2022, Gordon County Sheriff’s Office representatives were honored to meet with Mrs. Annie Mae Bigham, who was celebrating her 102nd birthday at her home. Mrs. Bigham is a long time Gordon County resident and a beloved school teacher who worked in the county schools for many years. She taught at the former Liberty Elementary School, and also at Belwood Elementary School.

Ms. Bigham attended college at Reinhardt University, graduating in 1940. She moved to Gordon County from Waleska, Georgia in 1944. She taught school here in Gordon County from 1944 to 1986, and is fondly remembered by her many former students. Sheriff Mitch Ralston called Mrs. Bigham “a treasure”, and wished her many more happy birthdays.
