Shooting Incident Near Dews Pond Friday Night Results in 6 Arrests

ORIGINAL RELEASE Friday night, January 19th:

“At about 10pm tonight, deputies responded to a report of shots fired at a private residence on Meadowlark Lane near Dews Pond. Deputies were close by and stopped the cars believed to have been involved within minutes of the shooting. At this time no one has been found to have been struck by gunfire. Everyone believed to have been involved has been apprehended, and the weapon believed to have been used has been recovered. No one is at large, deputies are still on scene, and the investigation is ongoing.”

UPDATE, Monday, January 22: 

In the aftermath of the shooting event on Meadowlark Lane on Friday night (January 19th), a total of six (6) persons were arrested: Logan Curtis age 18, of 322 Circle Drive, Calhoun, and Dagoberto Perez Jr, age 17 of 1181 Newtown Creek Loop, Calhoun, both of whom have been charged with Aggravated Assault, Reckless Conduct, Trafficking in Psilocybin Mushrooms (Schedule I Drug), and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. In addition to these two defendants, four (4) juveniles were taken into custody. All of the juveniles were local residents. Two of the four juveniles were charged with Aggravated Assault, Reckless Conduct, Trafficking in Psilocybin Mushrooms (Schedule I Drug), and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Two other juveniles were charged with Party to the Crime of Aggravated Assault. The two adults were jailed and remain incarcerated pending bond. The four juveniles were ordered detained by the Juvenile Court Friday night, with a detention hearing held in Juvenile Court today (Monday, January 22nd). During the course of this investigation, Sheriff’s detectives collected witness statements, and physical evidence including multiple firearms, illegal drugs, and a large amount of currency. Fortunately, no one was struck by gunfire. The investigation is continuing by the Sheriff’s Detective Division.
