A line of severe thunderstorms have impacted Gordon County and surrounding areas this evening. Deputies have responded to reports of downed trees, downed utility lines, and debris in roadways due to high winds. Extra deputies have been deployed for the duration of the storm. Some power outages have been reported. Deputies and county public works personnel are working diligently to clear the obstructed roads. The areas which have been most affected at this time are in the northern and western portions of the county. Some structure damage has been reported, but no injuries known thus far. Motorists are urged to use caution and to be particularly aware of the possibility of obstructions in the roadways. Citizens should monitor the National Weather Service (NWS) and/or media outlets to stay abreast of severe weather conditions.
