Undercover Drug Investigation Nets Arrest for Variety of Drug Related and Fraud Charges

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

In early November (2016) Sheriff’s detectives initiated an undercover investigation into the unlawful distribution of methamphetamine and marijuana from local motels. Over the course of several weeks detectives organized and directed a number of undercover purchases of methamphetamine and marijuana from Courtnie Dianne Veler, age 27, of 290 Louise Lane in Calhoun. Purchases of drugs were made at two area motels in Gordon County and detectives utilized both electronic surveillance and physical surveillance. On Saturday, December 3rd, deputy sheriffs arrested Veler at a local motel without incident. She has been charged with sale/distribution of methamphetamine and sale/distribution of marijuana. In an unrelated investigation conducted by (other) Sheriff’s detectives, Veler has also been charged with 32 counts of fraud related offenses including (felony) Exploitation/Intimidation Of a Disabled Adult/Elderly Person, in which detectives believe that Veler stole and used a credit card from a disabled person numerous times at a number of local businesses. She is being held in the county jail.
