Resaca Man Arrested in Connectio With Armed Robbery at Local Motel

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

Around 8pm Friday night (July 24), deputy sheriffs received a report of an armed robbery at the Budget Inn near US 41/I-75 near Calhoun. A ‘lookout’ on the suspect vehicle was relayed to state and local law  enforcement officers by radio, and a few minutes later a state trooper from (local) Post 43 stopped the car on Freeman Road near Resaca. The occupant, Austin M. Poarch, age 25, of 553 Freeman Road, Resaca, Georgia, was arrested without incident. The victim, who was lodged at the motel, reported that the suspect had came to his room in search of a female acquaintance, and had then robbed him at gunpoint. Detectives recovered all of the reported stolen property, and found a handgun believed to have been used in the robbery. Detectives charged Poarch with Armed Robbery. He is in jail awaiting bond.
