Tunnel Hill Man Arrested For Attempted Burglary
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:
At about 6:30 a.m. yesterday (May 7th) deputy sheriffs were dispatched to a private residence in the Hill City community regarding the report of a suspicious vehicle. While en route to the call, a deputy met the suspicious car travelling toward Resaca on State Route 136. Noticing the car’s license plate was covered by a towel, the deputy stopped the car. Meanwhile, another deputy met with the home owner who gave a description of the car and noticed a footprint on a door as if someone had attempted to kick the door inward. Based upon the physical evidence and witness statements, the deputies arrested the driver of the suspicious car, Augustin Hernandez, age 30, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia and charged him with Speeding, Attempting to Elude Officers, Criminal Trespass, and Attempted Burglary. He remains in the county jail pending bond.
