Detectives Investigating Allegations of Hazing Among Gordon Central Boys Soccer Team

On Saturday, March 16th, 2013, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Battery against a male juvenile perpetrated by another male juvenile. The report alleged that the battery was part of a hazing ritual involving Gordon Central (boys) soccer players. Detectives broadened their investigation after witnesses gave corroborating statements and provided additional information. Thus far, the investigation has revealed over a dozen victims, and over a dozen alleged perpetrators. The events have involved battery and other inappropriate contact. Some of those involved are alleged to be both victims and perpetrators. Investigating detectives have reason to believe that the hazing has been occurring for over a year. This investigation is still ongoing, and many students have been interviewed. Detectives have also gathered electronic communications as possible evidence. School officials are cooperating fully with the investigating detectives. The case should take several weeks to complete before it is ready to be presented to the appropriate prosecuting attorney’s office.

Today, May 3, 2013, investigating detectives completed their investigation into the hazing allegations, bringing charges of aggravated sexual battery and false imprisonment against one male juvenile and charges of party-to-the-crime of Aggravated Sexual Battery and False imprisonment against a second male juvenile. The case has been referred to the Juvenile Court Prosecuting Attorney. The names of the accused juveniles will not be released. The investigation indicated that some offenses may have occurred in neighboring jurisdictions, and the investigative results will be forwarded to the proper authorities.
