Woman Arrested For DUI, Driving Wrong Way On Interstate 75

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

At about 4:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15th, deputy sheriffs were dispatched by E911 to Interstate 75 near Calhoun in response to a report of an automobile travelling northbound in the southbound lanes, into oncoming traffic, at a high rate of speed. A deputy sheriff intercepted the vehicle near Exit 312 and pursued it, reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour, to near Exit 317 where the vehicle stopped. The driver, identified as one Latasha Shunta Salley, age 28, of 5711 Jubilant Drive, Rex, Georgia, was arrested at the scene without further incident. She was charged with Reckless Driving, Possession of Less Than 1 ounce of Marijuana, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs. She was booked into the county jail and subsequently released on $6100.00 bond.

Sheriff Mitch Ralston said, “This was an incredibly hazardous and potentially deadly situation,  threatening the lives of many innocent people. The quick response of my deputies probably averted a tragedy, and highlights the number of dangerous calls to which we’re dispatched on the Interstate every day and night.”
